It is required that students have strong basic driving skills before taking the class. Students must be comfortable driving in the following places: parking lots, their neighborhood, and a busy city street, e.g., Middle Road, Kimberly Road, or a highway near where they live. Additionally, they should gain some experience driving during dawn and dusk. The more practice they get, the better experience they will have in their driving lessons.
- Students may take classes at any AEA site.
- The following fees may potentially be assessed: Class extension fee $50 /, Missed drive - no call no show $40 /, Make-up drive $40 /, Transfer to another session $50 /, and Refund processing fee $50.
- Online classes must be completed during the 3-week session (3 lessons per day).
- Contact the school you attend regarding driver education grading practices.
- Contact your school district regarding a school permit.
MBAEA Driver Education Class Completion Documentation: Driver Education completion information is inputted electronically to the DMV (Iowa Department of Motor Vehicles) system on Wednesday at 4:30 pm, following the end date of the class. Please contact your local DMV with any questions you may have about the information needed to obtain your license after completing Driver Education.
