Assistive Technology

Inclusive Classroom Conference Learning and Implementation

The conference will feature sessions and strategies to help educators utilize individualized instruction that empowers every student to become an expert at learning.  Technology and instruction interventions can be designed to support students with disabilities.  These practices provide a pathway for designing inclusive, equitable, and accessible educational experiences that meet the needs of every learner.

1-Day Conference Registration 

Licensure Renewal Credit Registration: If you wish to receive 1 renewal credit, you must register in the AEA Professional Learning system in ADDITION to filling out the Inclusive Classroom Conference form.

Conference date: February 15, 2023, from 8:00 - 4:00 p.m. (Central Time). If you have additional questions, please contact the Assistive Technology team at mbaea-at@aea9.k12.ia.us.

Paraeducator Level II

For those seeking paraeducator renewal credits, successful completion of this course meets two purposes:

  1. Earns the required three Licensure Renewal credits to renew a Paraeducator Generalist Certificate

  2. Adds the Area of Concentration, School Library Media endorsement to a paraeducator certificate

Paraeducator Area of Concentration: Library Media Technology

The course covers understanding how libraries serve as resources based on best practices. It will build an understanding of the role school libraries play in supporting curriculum with print and digital resources, the foundations of building a diverse collection and welcoming area and dive into the ethical issues related to libraries, such as copyright, confidentiality, and diversity. SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL BEHAVIORAL

Trauma-Informed Yoga and Mindfulness Practices to Promote Student Resiliency

This course is designed to help teachers and educational staff create classrooms and school environments that encourage and promote student resiliency, as well as physical movement, through the practice of yoga and mindfulness. Participants will develop an understanding of the effects of trauma on a student’s body, brain, and overall well-being. They will also learn how yoga/movement and mindfulness activities, as well as other strategies, can be used with students in a way that helps promote the building of resilience to mitigate the effects of traumatic experiences.
